Job Description
Toonie Tours is currently looking for Tour Guides to join our team and represent their local community in Banff, Alberta.
This position is for a freelance, contractor position and experience in a similar role is preferred. We are primarily hiring people who are available to work part-time or seasonal full-time, and often on weekends. The primary responsibility for this position is to lead a group of 5-30 customers on a highly entertaining and engaging tour of your community.
Toonie Tours embraces a performance-based compensation model to keep Tour Guides at the top of their game. We are looking for people who love Canada and know all about their communities!
Responsibilities
Creative – Learn, research, design, and personalize tours and stories to be authentically presented.
Leadership – Meet, welcome, and lead tour groups of 5-30 customers.
Customer-Service – Provide local recommendations and tips for out-of-town travelers, and customers less familiar with your community.
Be the local Toonie Tours Expert – Represent Toonie Tours, your community, and tour guides in general to the public. You are actively involved in your community and have that wanderlust spirit.
Working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Key Attributes
Communicative and Social – Strong verbal communication skills, ability to present and speak loudly, personable, and approachable. We are looking for fluent English-speaking Tour Leaders and welcome additional languages (French, Spanish, German, Russian, Italia, Portuguese) to join our offerings.
Entertaining and Positive – Exceptional story-telling skills, capture the attention of the group, and has a great sense of humor.
Self-driven / Self-starter / High Performer – Works well in a performance-based compensation model. Is recommendable and commands 5-star reviews.
Flexible & Confident – Adapts well to varying circumstances as the group needs change with the always-changing outdoor environment.
Punctual – shows up early for every tour, without fail.
Physically fit - (can manage 5 km of walking in 3 hours, while speaking and presenting)
