Do you have a steady hand and an eye for detail? As a Dental Technician in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), you’ll assist Dental Officers in providing oral health care to CAF members at clinics, in the field, and on deployment.
This position is available full-time or part-time or as part of our paid education program.

Overview
As a Dental Technician, your primary duties include:
Providing clinical assistance
Providing laboratory procedures to include fabrication of casts, custom trays, mouthguards and minor repairs to acrylic appliances
Providing general dental administrative services
Making impressions for study models
Removing sutures
Exposing and developing radiographs
Providing operational dental support
Responding to patient medical emergencies

To be eligible to apply to the CAF, you must:
Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada;
Be at least 18 years old (17 years old with parental consent), except:
For the Paid Education programs, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent);
For the Primary Reserve, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent) and must be enrolled as a full-time student;
Have completed at least Grade 10 or Secondary IV in Québec (some jobs need higher levels of education).
Direct Entry Plan
If you already have a Level II Dental Assisting Diploma from an accredited College or a National Dental Assisting Examining Board Certificate, including a registration/license with the provincial regulatory body where applicable (provincial regulatory organizations) and at least 900 hours of clinical experience within the last two years (no experience is required if you have graduated within the last twelve months), the CAF may place you directly into any of the 24 military dental clinics following basic training.
Basic training is required before being assigned to a military dental clinic.
