Climate Adaptation Solutions Senior Specialist
Role Description
As an Arcadian, you will lead certain aspects of Arcadis' climate resilience strategy and provide technical leadership and guidance on hazard and risk modelling, water resource management, risk‑informed asset management, resilient transportation planning, emergency management and evacuation planning, decision making and pathways planning under uncertainty, risk financing, resilient investment planning and other related topics.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Climate Adaptation Solutions Director for Canada to develop and execute the Arcadis Canada Climate Adaptation Strategy, collaborate with project teams across the organization, and actively mentor multidisciplinary teams. This position emphasizes project execution, team mentorship, and knowledge sharing within Arcadis.
Role AccountabilitiesThis role is pivotal in leading strategic business development initiatives, shaping market positioning, and cultivating long‑term client relationships within the climate adaptation sector. It involves guiding market intelligence and competitor analysis, leading proposal development and client presentations, representing Arcadis at industry events, delivering complex climate risk assessments and resilience projects, overseeing tailored solutions, teaching staff, encouraging teamwork, and championing knowledge sharing and continuous improvement in climate adaptation practices.
Qualifications& Experience
- Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Planning, Geography, Economics, Public Policy, Emergency Planning, or a related field; professional designation such as P.Eng. highly desired.
- 12+ years of experience in environmental consulting, engineering, climate adaptation or resilience planning, with a demonstrated track record as a trusted advisor to public and/or private sector clients translating technical analysis into strategic, actionable guidance.
- Proven leadership in managing and delivering complex projects, overseeing technical teams, budgets, schedules, and client relationships, and a strong understanding of Canadian climate policy, regulatory frameworks, and funding programs.
- Established network within Canada's climate adaptation and resilience community, with industry engagement and thought‑leadership experience, including business development and proposal leadership.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams, integrating diverse technical inputs, and excellent communication and presentation skills to engage senior stakeholders and public forums.
- A commitment to continuous learning and advancing technical practice, familiarity with emerging methodologies, standards, and tools in climate risk and resilience.
The salary range for this position is $95,832‑$159,720.
