Principal Architectural Technologist

Purpose

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Architectural Designer. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Calgary, Alberta.

• Perform architectural design work from conceptual design through to detailed design of oil and gas, infrastructure and mining projects.
• Prepare architectural design 2D drawings and 3D models based on engineering information, site data and customer requirements for:
• Architectural general arrangement.
• Architectural details.
• Prepare architectural material take‑offs.
• Provide technical support to the project team.
• Determine technical issues, define alternate solutions, establish pros/cons for multiple solutions, and make recommendations to support official project documents such as technical queries and technical deviations.
• Coordinate with project engineering team and gather information from other disciplines, with knowledge of the impact of other disciplines’ design data on building design.
• Seek input from knowledgeable sources, consider constructability, operability, and maintainability in design.
• Other responsibilities include preparing as‑built drawings, design and detailing new components from previous designs.
• Work with global integrated team (GID).

3D Model

• Create 3D model to client specifications.
• Ensure objects are placed in correct hierarchy.
• Ensure all attributes are set.
• Complete modeling checklists.
• Run clash check and resolve all clashes before submitting check prints.

Develop 2D Drawings

• Develop all necessary drawing details to ensure complete fabrication.
• Complete checklists.
• Ensure drawings incorporate all engineering review comments.
• Ensure drawings incorporate all client review comments.
• Ensure all drawing attributes are set.

• Experience with process building, modular building, modular administration building, modular camps would be an asset.
• Knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry standard practices for the control, development, and application of deliverables.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
• Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with other designers and engineers to achieve optimal drawing product.
• A diploma in engineering design and drafting or equivalent.
