Associate Physician

Overview

Associate Physician opportunity providing acute care coverage as a mid-level healthcare provider under the supervision and direction of a physician supervisor. Deliver care to patients, support Albertan physicians, and help improve the patient experience within the Calgary Zone across multiple facilities and practice areas. This role offers the opportunity to contribute as an important member of the collaborative care team in a variety of facilities and practice areas across the Calgary Zone.

• Deliver care to patients at the Rockyview General Hospital, Peter Lougheed Centre, South Health Campus, Foothills Medical Centre, and Alberta Children's Hospital within a multidisciplinary team in the Department of Surgery, Orthopedic and General Surgery.

• Required Qualifications:
• Eligibility to work in Canada (e.g., Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and individuals with open work permits).
• English Language Proficiency.
• As a requirement for licensure by the CPSA, applicants must have taken the Academic version of IELTS, achieving a minimum score of 7.0 in each component. Test results must be certified (notarized) by a Notary Public or government authorized entity. Exemptions are based on CPSA guidelines.
• Medical Degree and Transcripts: graduate of a medical school located outside Canada/USA listed in FAIMER IMD.
• Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME): at least one full year of hands-on training outside Canada/USA after undergraduate medical training, with supervised hands-on specialty training.
• MCCQE Part I (Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination Part I) passed prior to application.
• Hold registration for supervised practice with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) under the Limited Practice Registry.
• Demonstrate currency of practice: within the last three years, practice independently or in a supervised capacity, or in a continuous postgraduate program for at least one year in the desired Alberta discipline.
• Submit Curriculum Vitae and Associate Physician Eligibility Pre-Screen Letter from AHS with application; incomplete applications will not be considered.

• Preferred Qualifications:
• Recent experience in an acute care facility, specifically in surgery, within the last 3 years.
• Prior experience as an Associate Physician in a Canadian healthcare setting is an asset.
