About the Faculty of Science and Technology
The Department of Mathematics and Computing, Faculty of Science and Technology at Mount Royal University invites applications for a tenure‑track position of Assistant Professor which will commence July 1, 2026, subject to final budgetary approval. The role supports Bachelor of Computer Information Systems and other computing programs.
Faculty members teach both majors and general education courses, helping students develop flexibility, innovation, and critical thinking skills.
In addition to teaching, faculty contribute to the liberal education component of all undergraduate degree programs and support the delivery of general education courses for a diverse student body.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will commit primarily to undergraduate teaching and develop/maintain an active research program. The position will focus on teaching computing courses supporting the Bachelor of Computer Information Systems.
Preferred candidates will contribute to one or more of the following areas:
- Societal implications of information technology (e.g., COMP 3309)
Added responsibilities include:
- Involving undergraduate students in research
- Attracting external funding

QualificationsPreferred candidates hold a PhD in a computing‑related discipline. Candidates with a PhD in another discipline with relevant experience, or a Master’s degree (normally in a computing discipline) coupled with significant experience may also be considered if they can demonstrate a suitable research program.
New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/scholarship/service pattern (TSS) focuses on teaching with a research component and service to the community. The teaching/service pattern (TS) focuses on teaching and service only. The successful candidate for this role will be hired into the teaching/scholarship/service pattern (TSS). An option to change work patterns after tenure is available.
