Assistant Professor, Computing – Mount Royal University (Permanent, Union MRFA)
About This PositionThe Department of Mathematics and Computing, Faculty of Science and Technology, invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position, commencing July 1, 2026 (subject to budget approval). The role will support the Bachelor of Computer Information Systems and may involve teaching and research in chosen computing areas.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be hired into the teaching‑scholarship‑service (TSS) pattern with responsibility for teaching computing courses, developing an active research program, and serving the Mount Royal community. Preferred areas include web development, privacy & security, information systems organization, software engineering, and societal implications of technology.
Teaching Responsibilities- Core and elective courses in the Bachelor of Computer Information Systems (e.g., COMP 3512, COMP 4513, COMP 3654, COMP 4535, COMP 4543, COMP 4545, COMP 3504, COMP 3505, COMP 3309).
- Maintain a productive research program aligned with teaching responsibilities.
- Involve undergraduate students in research projects.
- Actively pursue external funding opportunities.
- Ph.D. in a computing‑related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching.
- Evidence of research expertise in computing or related fields.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.

Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive total remuneration package including paid vacation, winter holiday closure, personal days, free membership in the recreation centre, and eligibility for health and dental benefits for positions over six months. Additional benefits may be available for extended contracts.
