Sessional Instructor: CHEM 697.04 – Electrochemistry Fundamentals and Methods

Term: Winter 2026

Overview

The University of Calgary’s Department of Chemistry is inviting applications for part‑time, sessional instructor positions for CHEM 697.04, a 3‑unit advanced physical chemistry course focused on electrochemistry. Successful candidates will deliver lectures and associated duties for this course during the Winter 2026 term.

Teaching Schedule

Tuesdays – Thursdays, 3:00 PM to 4:15 PM
Delivery Mode:
All components in‑person
Term Dates:
Jan 5, 2026 – Apr 30, 2026

Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver lecture content for a highly specialized chemistry course.
  • Develop, administer, and evaluate assessment materials.
  • Promote an inclusive learning environment and support student learning.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the field of physical chemistry.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in chemistry or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, ideally in electrochemistry or a comparable advanced chemistry course.
  • Strong research background in electrochemistry.
  • Familiarity with D2L (Desire2

    Learn) is an asset.
  • Record of academic inclusivity and engagement with diverse student populations.
