Position: Sessional Nursing Instructor, Grad Program, Faculty of Nursing (Winter, Spring, Summer 2025)

Description

The University of Calgary, Faculty of Nursing is seeking Sessional Nursing Instructors to teach courses in our Graduate Certificate Laddered Pathway to Master of Nursing Program. Instruction of the courses will take place in the Winter 2025, Spring 2025, Summer 2025 semesters.

We are seeking applicants with experience in teaching graduate level nursing courses. The courses are delivered online and include synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities. Flexibility for availability varies and may include a combination of days, evenings, and weekends for teaching, office hours, and answering student e-mails.

Sessional Instructors are provided with exceptional orientation, mentorship, and ongoing professional development. The amount of remuneration is calculated according to the Collective Agreement, Schedule

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Work effectively with small groups of students in online environments
  • Participate in team meetings related to teaching and faculty governance
  • Apply various teaching strategies to support student learning in an online environment
  • Participate in student assessment and evaluations
  • Encourage and foster an environment of inquiry and valuing of evidence informed practice

Qualifications:
Candidates must be eligible for registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta. A master's degree is required, and a PhD is preferred.

Applied Experience:

  • Experience in teaching, mentoring, and supervising graduate students

Enhanced Abilities:

  • Application of adult teaching/learning principles
  • Teamwork and leadership skills
  • Evaluation and promotions of student problem solving and critical thinking
  • Ability to critique student performance and provide meaningful feedback
  • Prioritizing and meeting competing demands/requirements of varied settings
  • Computer skills in word processing, email and internet access
