Description

Office of Signature Learning Experiences (OSLE) under the Office of the Provost is currently seeking a Full‑time Regular Senior Specialist, Partnerships and Engagement. Reporting to the Manager, Partnerships & Engagement, the role serves as a liaison between OSLE and faculty partners across faculties, building strategic relationships with associate deans, department heads, curriculum committees, and program coordinators.

The incumbent works collaboratively to understand faculty‑specific needs and ensures SLE programs align with faculty academic standards and curriculum structures. The incumbent also oversees the Campus as a Learning Lab (CLL) initiative, scaling student engagement and facilitating community partnerships for work‑integrated learning.

The Senior Specialist serves as a partnership builder, facilitator, and program delivery liaison to grow the breadth and depth of signature learning offerings at UCalgary.

Summary of

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as an OSLE contact for associate deans, department heads, program coordinators, and faculty members across faculties.
  • Build and maintain strategic, trusting relationships with faculty leadership to understand disciplinary cultures, priorities, curriculum structures, and constraints.
  • Conduct regular consultations with faculty partners to understand their needs, gather feedback on SLE programs, and identify opportunities for integration.
  • Present SLE opportunities, resources, and support at faculty councils, department meetings, curriculum committees, and faculty development sessions.
  • Facilitate cross‑faculty collaboration and knowledge sharing around SLE integration.
  • Support faculty in understanding how SLE programs align with learning outcomes and can enhance their curriculum.
  • Oversee the CLL initiative which seeks to use the University of Calgary campuses for experiential learning and applied research projects. This includes supporting faculty and instructors to connect to administrative and operational staff and data tied to campus operations.
  • Create 'self‑serve' tools that faculty, students, and staff can use to initiate, manage, and evaluate CLL experiential learning and applied research projects, and explore the creation and management of data sets that can support the scaling up of the number of CLL projects.
  • Support instructors in connecting students to work‑integrated learning opportunities in UCalgary.
  • Within the context of ongoing UCalgary community partnership work, pilot new community partnerships for work‑integrated learning; this will involve cultivating relationships with community partners, working to articulate learning experiences that benefit students and community partners, seeking feedback, and incorporating learnings into the next iteration of pilot projects.
  • Create multi‑year action plans for UNIV 304, Campus as a Learning Lab, and other work‑integrated learning offerings to realize effective program delivery and growth, and complete annual reporting on key metrics (qualitative and quantitative) in a timely fashion.
  • Support the creation of new UNIV courses focused on SLE.
  • Work with faculty to integrate SLE into course curricula, ensuring alignment with course learning outcomes and program requirements.
  • Support faculty in understanding SLE program requirements, assessment approaches, and student support resources.
  • Facilitate connections between OSLE program staff and faculty members for program delivery partnerships.
  • Help faculty design capstone projects, experiential learning assignments, and other activities that can align with OSLE credentials.
  • Facilitate working groups and consultation sessions and co‑design processes with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Prepare presentations, reports, and briefing materials for faculty councils, associate deans, and senior academic leadership.
