Our Division & Communities
Foothills School Division (FSD) serves the learning needs of approximately 8000 students from preschool to grade 12. We operate 22 public schools, an online digital school, an alternative campus, and three colony schools. These are located in the towns of Okotoks, High River, and Diamond Valley, and the communities of Blackie, Cayley, Heritage Heights, Red Deer Lake, Longview, Millarville and Foothills County.

The Role
Cameron Crossing School is part of the Outreach Services of Foothills School Division. Cameron Crossing offers alternative programming to at-risk youth in grades 7 through 12 who have struggled to be successful in traditional school settings. We offer a welcoming, safe, and caring environment with flexible programming that meets students where they are and to help them to recognize and build on their many positive qualities and strengths.
This position is dynamic and includes working collaboratively with a supportive staff team to enhance the learning and development of our students. This position will include supporting academic teachers and provide direct instruction for PE and Wellness, and several CTF courses that we provide in rotation. Courses can be tailored to meet the skillset of the successful candidate. Experience working with middle school aged students is a requirement.
Specific experience in unique settings and training in trauma informed practice and social emotional learning are assets.
The Candidate
As a member of a highly motivated team and student-centered educator, you are prepared to collaborate with colleagues in a Professional Learning Community. Your teaching practice includes the ability to design and plan learning activities that transfer, and develop thinking competencies. Further, your practice assesses individual student variables to inform the design of meaningful and experiential learning opportunities and effective assessment practice.
Your ability to foster effective professional relationships with student, families, staff and community is critical. You demonstrate a willingness to engage in extra-curricular activities and support students in the whole school experience that characterizes effective schools. Your capacity to integrate technologies and and support experiential learning that connects students to community resources within Maker-centered learning, CTF and CTS learning environments is evident.
