The Werklund School of Education, Graduate Programs, at the University of Calgary invites applications for a term certain Sessional Instructor position for Fall 2026. The term runs from August 24 to December 18, 2026. The position involves teaching online and on‑campus graduate courses that are integral parts of the graduate programs in the Werklund School of Education.
Position RequirementsDesired qualifications include:
- A completed doctorate in psychology or a related field, registration as a psychologist.
- Evidence of successful teaching and leadership experience in workplace, university or school settings.
- Demonstrated experience in online/distance education for courses delivered online or in a blended format.
- Capacity to work effectively in a collaborative culture.
- Knowledge and understanding of the programs and specializations in Educational Psychology will be considered an asset.
The program encompasses Educational Studies in Counseling Psychology and in School and Applied Child Psychology.

Part I
Delivery: Online
The course delves into brain/behaviour relationships specific to the learning process, memory, and forgetting; it examines how these processes develop throughout the lifespan, how difficulty with executive functioning impedes learning, and how social‑emotional competencies develop and can be supported. It also covers psychopathology, mental health issues in the classroom, and the importance of early intervention in the presence of atypical neurodevelopment.
