Position: Supervisor, Learning Services – Religious Education and Family Life
The Supervisor, Learning Services provides district-level leadership, service, and support to ensure high-quality teaching and learning across Calgary Catholic School District schools. As a member of the Learning Services leadership team, the Supervisor supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of curriculum, assessment, instructional practices, and diverse learning supports aligned with Alberta Education requirements and district priorities. The Supervisor plays a key role in coordinating the Critical Incident Response team (CIRT) in collaboration with key personnel in diverse learning, student mental health and employee wellness departments.
The Supervisor leads a defined portfolio within Learning Services, provides direction and supervision to consultants, chaplains, faith formation coordinating teachers and team members, collaborates with school and system leaders, and contributes to strategic planning, assurance, and continuous improvement through data-informed decision-making. This role requires strong Catholic instructional leadership, systems thinking, and the ability to lead complex change in support of student success and well-being.
Portfolio Context and Scope  Within the Learning Services department, this Supervisor role carries responsibility for the Religious Education and Family Life portfolio. The Supervisor provides instructional and organizational leadership for this portfolio, ensuring alignment with Alberta Education requirements, district priorities, and the Calgary Catholic School District’s commitment to faith formation, equity, and student success.
The scope of the portfolio may include leadership related to implementation and delivery of religious education, faith formation, critical incident response, and chaplaincy services, and maintaining effective partnerships with provincial partners, parishes and Diocesan collaborators. While the portfolio focus may evolve in response to system needs, the Supervisor is expected to exercise sound professional judgment, lead complex initiatives, and contribute to collective leadership across Learning Services.
Specific Accountabilities  Faith Leadership   Actively model and promote Catholic faith leadership in all aspects of the role, ensuring that teaching, learning, and system initiatives are grounded in Gospel values and the mission of Catholic education.
Support and ensure the permeation of Catholicity across curriculum, instructional practices, professional learning, and system initiatives within the assigned portfolio.
Collaborate with schools, Learning Services colleagues, and system partners to support faith formation, spiritual well-being, and the integration of Catholic social teaching into teaching and learning.
Instructional Leadership & Curriculum   Provide leadership for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of curriculum, instructional practices, and assessment aligned with Alberta Education programs of study and district priorities.
Support schools and Learning Services teams in implementing new curriculum, initiatives, and system priorities within established provincial timelines.
Support the district priority of student success by strengthening responsive and individualized programming that meets diverse learning needs across schools.
Leadership of People & Teams   Provide direction, supervision, mentorship, and support to Learning Services consultants and team members.
Foster collaborative working relationships across Learning Services portfolios, schools, and departments.
System Planning & Professional Learning   Contribute to the development and refinement of a system-wide professional growth plan that is responsive to school contexts, educator learning needs, and emerging priorities.
Support instructional capacity-building through consultation, modeling, and professional learning.
Data-Informed Decision-Making & Accountability   Analyze provincial, district, and local data (e.g., Assurance measures, PATs, Diploma Exams, local assessments) to inform planning, monitor impact, and guide continuous improvement.
