French Teacher/Tutor Wanted. Eager to help students turn “Je ne sais pas” into “Oh la la”? Motivated to help support children’s French education outside of the classroom? Join the team at Oxford Learning Calgary Acadia as a part‑time French teacher/tutor/coach and gain valuable teaching experience.

Job Details

Location:

Calgary, Alberta.

Employment Type:

Part time. Pay: $17.00 to $20.00 per hour.

Hours:

4:00 pm–8:00 pm (after‑school, evenings) and some Saturdays 10:00 am–3:00 pm. Preference for commitment until the end of the school year and summer. Position is in‑person; relocation packages not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Position Requirements
  • Strong background in spoken and written French and English.
  • Comfortable teaching up to Grade 9 level;
    Grade 12 preferred.
  • Instruction conducted in French.
  • Reliable attendance; ability to teach up to three students in small groups.
  • Commuting ability to Calgary Acadia area.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable certification in a relevant field.
  • Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience considered.
  • Teaching certification an asset.
  • Good knowledge of Grades 9‑12 French core curriculum.
Experience
  • Experience teaching/tutoring French at Grade 9–12 (or equivalent) level.
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong French skills and ability to guide students’ understanding.
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time.
Responsibilities (Position Details)
  • Teach up to 3 students at a time at different levels.
  • Deliver lessons online and in‑person (though the role is designated as in‑person).
  • Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
  • Fill in post‑lesson notes.
  • Complete daily student communication updates.
  • Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.
