The Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary invites applications for term certain Sessional Instructor positions for the Winter 2027 term in Educational Research and Educational Psychology. Sessional instructors will teach online and on campus graduate courses that are integral parts of the graduate programs in the Werklund School of Education.

EDER 619.82 Ethical Considerations for AI in Education
Delivery:
Online

This course examines the ethical implications of integrating generative AI in education with a focus on academic integrity. Students will explore issues such as privacy, bias, transparency, and the impact on human creativity and critical thinking. Key ideas:

• AI ethics frameworks for education
• Bias detection and mitigation in AI systems
• Data privacy and security in educational contexts
• Balancing AI assistance and human agency in learning

Position Requirements

Educational Research consists of Educational Studies in Adult Learning, Curriculum and Learning, Language and Literacy, Leadership, and the Learning Sciences.

Desired qualifications include

• A completed doctorate in education or a related area.
• Evidence of successful teaching and leadership experience in school, university, or workplace settings.
• Demonstrated experience in online/distance education.
• Capacity to work effectively in a collaborative culture.
• Knowledge and understanding of the graduate programs and specializations in Educational Research are considered assets for the sessional teaching positions.
