The University of Calgary Faculty of Nursing is seeking Sessional Nursing Instructors to teach an undergraduate BScN level clinical course within Bonnyville for the Fall Semester 2026 and Winter Semester 2027.
Term Details- Fall Semester (September 1 - December 4, 2026)
- Term 3 - NRSG 351 (Health Promotion) September 1 - October 16, 2026
- Off‑campus Thursday & Friday with On‑site Lab Tuesday 0900‑1200
- Term 3 - NRSG 350 (Care of the Aging Adult) October 19 - December 4, 2026
- Off‑campus Thursday & Friday with On‑site Lab Tuesday 0900‑1200
- Term 3 - NRSG 351 (Health Promotion) September 1 - October 16, 2026
- Winter Semester (January 13 - April 9, 2027)
- Term 4 - NRSG 352 (Acute Care Nursing I)
- Off‑campus Thursday & Friday with On‑site Lab Wednesday 0900‑1200

Applicants must be eligible for registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta. Candidates with BN/BScN preparation will be considered.
Qualifications- Rural and Indigenous health practice experience related to semester focus
- Experience engaging respectfully with Indigenous Elders and Traditional Knowledge Keepers
- Broad experience across a variety of areas
- Experience in clinical teaching, mentoring and supervision of students
- Application of adult teaching/learning principles
- Use of nursing process and conceptual frameworks for assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation
- Communication and collaboration skills with other health professionals
- Teamwork and leadership skills
- Evaluation and promotion of student problem solving and critical thinking
- Ability to critique student performance and provide meaningful feedback
- Prioritizing and meeting competing demands/requirements of varied settings
- Computer skills in word processing, email and internet access
- Facilitate onsite and remote low‑to‑mid‑fidelity simulation activities within the Clinical Learning Centre
- Work effectively with small groups of students on‑campus or in off‑campus settings in acute care, chronic care, long‑term care or community
- Participate in team meetings related to the practice course and faculty governance
- Participate in student assessment and evaluations on and off campus
- Seek excellence in teaching by applying various teaching strategies and working with colleagues
- Encourage and foster an environment of inquiry and valuing of evidence‑informed practice
Sessional Instructors are provided with exceptional orientation, mentorship, and ongoing professional development. The remuneration is calculated according to the Collective Agreement, Schedule
B.
Practice education takes place both on and off campus. Please indicate in the cover letter whether you are available for the lab, clinical, or both. Mileage for instructor travel may be covered.
