The Department of Electrical and Software Engineering at the University of Calgary has an opening for a Sessional Instructor for the following course in Fall 2026 (September 1 - December 31, 2026).
ENEL 441 - Control Systems I
Course DescriptionComponent modelling and block diagram representation of feedback control systems. Mathematical modelling of dynamic systems; state-space representation and frequency domain representation of dynamic systems. Transient response analysis and steady-state error analysis. Root-locus analysis and design. Frequency response analysis with Bode and Nyquist stability criterion. Compensation design techniques. Introduction to multi sensor state feedback compensator design. Overview of digital control systems and industrial controllers.

The successful candidate will be expected to have earned at least a master's degree in electrical, computer or software engineering and must have a demonstrated background in the subject matter related to this course. The successful candidate must also have very good previous teaching performance or show the potential for very good to excellent teaching ability. It is strongly desired that the candidate is registered as a Professional Engineer in a Canadian Province.
