Description
The Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary invites applications for a Sessional Instructor to teach Fall 2026 ENTI 359.04 LEC 01 (Innovation in Agriculture). Classes in the Fall 2026 semester run from September 1 to December 4, 2026. Registrar Scheduled Exams will take place between December 8 and December 18, 2026, if applicable.
ENTI 359.04 (Innovation in Agriculture) – LEC 01 on Wednesdays from 6:30 pm to 9:15 pm.
The course description: "The course explores the transformative role of artificial intelligence and automation in contemporary agricultural practices. The course examines how innovations such as precision farming, sustainable practices, genetic engineering and alternative food production methods (vertical farming and lab‑grown meat) address challenges like climate change, resource scarcity and food security. Students will examine innovation and evaluate why the adoption curve is unique in agriculture relative to other leading‑edge tech‑centered industries.
Through case studies and hands‑on projects, the course equips learners to think critically about the evolution of a more resilient and sustainable global food system."
- A graduate degree (MBA, MSc, DBA, or PhD) is required.
- Previous post‑secondary teaching experience is required; experience teaching in Agriculture Innovation is preferred.
- Experience in Ag‑Tech venture capital and Ag‑Innovation is required.
- A strong network of Ag‑Innovation experts in Alberta is required.
- Working knowledge of core strategy, entrepreneurship and innovation frameworks is required.
- Work experience relevant to the course is strongly preferred.
- Experience teaching strategy or entrepreneurship and innovation courses is preferred.
