The Centre Manager has overall operational responsibility for the Academic Management of EFL/Teacher Training activities and for the Administration staff. The Centre Manager must ensure and improve the cost effectiveness of current operations and must bear in mind cost factors related to any proposed new activities.

STUDENTS
  • Be available to assist and support students with academic and social welfare issues.
  • Conduct weekly Welcome Sessions for new students.
  • Undertake regular focus interviews of students.
  • Lead and report on the monthly student focus groups.
  • Evaluate levels of students, including those wishing to change level/class.
  • Interview & assess new students for examination and specialist classes.
  • Monitor progress of longer term students.
  • Liaise with the Principal about special requests from students.
TEACHERS
  • Mentor and support teachers
  • Set up/ maintain class files.
  • Update teachers’ electronic files.
  • Observe teachers as and when needed, giving detailed oral and written feedback.
  • Maintain an up to date observation schedule, liaising with the Group Academic Manager over teacher trainer observations.
  • Appraise teachers as and when needed.
  • Maintain an up to date PDI schedule, liaising with the Group Academic Manager over teacher trainer PDIs
  • Arrange and/or lead regular TD sessions, keeping accurate records.
  • Give teachers feedback from student questionnaires, interviews or general comments.
  • Monitor teacher administration including, but not restricted to, Weekly Plans, Lesson Record sheets, Progress Tests and Registers
  • Ensure progress test results are entered into student record system
SOCIAL PROGRAMME
  • Support and advertise the social programme.
  • Ensure all teachers are aware of the risk assessment and responsibilities for each activity, including the pre-event checklist.
TEACHING/TRAINING
  • Cover absent teachers if required.
GENERAL
  • Prepare a weekly report, attaching all relevant documentation.
  • Prepare a monthly feedback report to include current statistics.
  • Represent OHC at external events as and when requested.
  • Check in all teachers at all timeslots.
  • Arrange cover teachers, in liaison with the Principal
  • Report any maintenance repairs & I.T. problems to the Principal.
  • Regularly check staffroom forms / paperwork/ weekly plans/ class files
