Student Accessibility Services Team in Student Experience and Support is seeking a Full-time Temporary Relief Neurodiversity Support Advisor for approximately 9 months. The Advisor reports to the Senior Manager, Student Accessibility Services. This role helps neurodivergent students navigate the post‑secondary system to maximise their opportunities for success. The Advisor will coordinate proactive responses to neurodivergent student populations, provide leadership in consultations, and engage with community partners such as the Sinneave Foundation.

The position is primarily located at the U of C Main Campus, with possible travel to other campuses. It is a unionised position working 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday, including early evenings, with occasional requirement to work outside the regular hours.

Key Responsibilities Wellbeing Support Advising
  • Provide a welcoming first point of contact for students.
  • Meet 1‑1 with students for individual wellbeing and support.
  • Provide accurate referral information and tailored support to aid access to services.
  • Conduct mental health triage and assess risk level to provide appropriate service/referral and reduce barriers.
  • Collaborate with Student‑at‑Risk team and Student Wellness Services staff.
  • Prioritise appointments based on emergent intake nature.
  • Evaluate needs of students without documentation of disability to determine need for further assessment.
  • Arrange further assessment and manage referral process.
  • Support faculty and instructional staff to resolve issues related to neurodivergent students.
  • Maintain client files according to protocol, ensuring timely, thorough, ethical updates.
  • Ensure compliance with university processes, FOIP and the Health Information Act.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with Residence, Student and Enrolment Services, faculties and external referral sources.
Program Coordination
  • Maintain the NICE Lounge and neurodiversity ambassador peer programme.
  • Deliver programmes for this student population, considering access, location and hours.
  • Recruit, train, mentor and supervise student volunteers.
  • Identify and facilitate affinity groups for students with individual and visible disabilities.
  • Collaborate with the Student Success Centre team to establish programming goals and maintain records for data reporting.
  • Coordinate assessment evaluation of neurodivergent programmes and develop annual reports.
Community Engagement, Partnerships and Collaboration
  • Lead, direct and provide expertise on neurodiversity to the university community.
  • Support broader community understanding of neurodivergent student needs.
  • Create and provide programming and training for working with neurodivergent students.
  • Act as primary contact for neurodivergent support programmes within SAS, liaising with campus staff on programme development.
  • Contribute to campus initiatives and working groups enhancing accessibility and inclusivity.
  • Educate the community on accessibility needs, formal accommodations and informal supports.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Adult Learning or equivalent;
    Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience supporting young adults in a wellness or mental health capacity.
  • Experience with crisis intervention, suicide intervention training and at‑risk student behaviours.
  • Experience supporting neurodivergent students.
  • Ability to collaborate across units for inclusivity and accessibility initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of post‑secondary student experience and intersectional identities.
  • Experience handling a large student caseload with a positive, student‑centric attitude.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • Respect for confidentiality and sensitivity.
  • Effective communication and modelling of these skills to students and staff.
  • Strong presentation and group facilitation skills.
