Job SummaryThis role is responsible for designing and developing education and training solutions for external audiences on technical subjects, staying current with industry trends. It uses adult learning theory, learning design models, and competency-based learning to create educational products that align with CSA Group’s standards and codes. The role conducts job task analyses, identifies learning needs, and collaborates with external subject matter experts and the Product Management team to ensure content accuracy and relevance.
It also incorporates assessments to evaluate learner competency, enhances end-user understanding, performance, and adoption by creating engaging learning materials, and identifies and improves learning design models and competency-based approaches to meet evolving business needs.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Apply adult learning and instructional design theories to create effective learning experiences.
- Ensure products meet accommodation and accessibility requirements.
- Use authoring tools, learning management systems and AI resources to deliver high‑quality content.
- Develop assessment tools to measure training effectiveness and make data‑driven improvements.
- Identify improved ways to apply systems and approaches to meet CSA’s evolving education needs.
- Research and identify new methods and systems to meet learner needs.
- Provide guidance to project resources and vendors to develop aligned content.
- Support product design and development by resolving stakeholder and content problems promptly.
- Guide the Production Coordinator on authorization for external materials.
- Collaborate with education product managers and subject matter specialists to define target audience needs.
- Participate in pilot deployment and evaluate course effectiveness.
- Manage product development, including design, development, QA, publishing, and maintenance.
- Engage learners through suitable activities and deliver learning outcomes.
- Conduct role‑based needs assessment by breaking down complex tasks.
- Use problem‑solving skills to deliver high‑quality learning products.
- Provide support to end users and resolve design issues.
- Manage resources and content for multiple projects to ensure timely delivery and quality.
- Post‑secondary degree or diploma in the sciences, humanities, engineering, trades, business, or related area.
- Postgraduate certificate, diploma or degree in instructional design, adult learning or equivalent.
- 5‑7 years of related work experience.
- Experience in needs assessment and job task analysis facilitation.
- Experience developing adult learning coursework.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Adobe Cloud, Articulate 360, MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Occasional travel required.
- Candidates proficient in French receive special consideration.
This position requires regular attendance, punctuality, interaction with other employees and the ability to work overtime as needed.
