The University of Calgary invites applications for Sessional Instructors to teach Economics courses in Fall 2026, especially in-person classes. Candidates must be well-qualified with a strong background in Economics education.
Our department is focused on hiring individuals to instruct courses such as Microeconomic Theory and Advanced Microeconomic Theory. Applicants are expected to possess a PhD or relevant qualifications, with preference given to those experienced in university-level teaching. A passion for economics and commitment to student-centered education is paramount.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead lectures for ECON 657 and ECON 557 courses
• Create and deliver engaging course content
• Assess student learning and adapt teaching methods
• Provide support and mentorship to students
• Follow the collective agreement for sessional instructors
Requirements:
• PhD in Economics or a related field
• Well-versed in teaching at the higher education level
• Submission of a detailed CV with teaching experience
• Three references from prior engagements
• Understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion practices
Support the academic development of students while teaching core Economics principles at the University of Calgary.
