The Department of Physics and Astronomy seeks a Sessional Instructor for PHYS 365, focusing on Acoustics and Optics in Fall 2026. This role involves in-person teaching to Engineering students.
This Fall 2026 term position involves lecturing and managing labs and tutorials for PHYS 365. A Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy in Physics or a close field is required, along with demonstrated teaching effectiveness. Classes will occur from August 24 to December 24, 2026, on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the afternoons.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct lectures for the PHYS 365 course tailored for engineering
• Direct supplementary laboratory and tutorial components
• Encourage student participation and interaction in learning
• Create and maintain an inclusive educational environment
• Evaluate and grade students on their performance
Requirements:
• Master’s degree or PhD in relevant areas
• History of effective teaching in physics or related courses
• Experience supporting diverse student groups
• Strong communication and teaching skills
• Commitment to inclusive pedagogical practices
