The Department of Earth, Energy, and Environment, within the Faculty of Science, invites applications for a Fall 2026 Term Sessional Instructor. The successful candidate will conduct lecture instruction, tutorial coordination, and other associated duties for this 3‑unit course during the Fall 2026 term.
Course OverviewTopics in statistical analysis emphasizing geoscientific applications: error analysis, Taylor series, curve fitting, statistical analysis of spatial data, multivariate data analysis, interpolation, numerical algorithms for estimation of model parameters, objective functions, norms, curve fitting, linear least squares regression, and linearization of models/data. Use of spreadsheet software and Python for implementation.
Fall 2026 Term DatesMonday, Aug 24, 2026 to Thursday, Dec 24, 2026.
Delivery Mode(s)All course components will be delivered in person.
Teaching ScheduleMon, Wed, Fri 09:00–09:50.
Qualifications- A graduate degree in Geoscience or a related field is required.
- Experience with the Desire 2 Learn (D2L) course management system, knowledge of best practices for assessments, and techniques for engaging students will be considered assets.
- Previous teaching experience at the post‑secondary level is a strong asset.
