The University of Calgary seeks a Sessional Instructor for Earth 545/645, focusing on Geohazards and Geotechnical Analysis for Fall 2026. Responsibilities include lecture instruction and tutorial coordination for this 3-unit course.
This position requires a graduate degree in Geoscience or a related field. The candidate must have experience with the Desire 2 Learn (D2L) system and previous post-secondary teaching experience would be a strong asset. The course will cover soil, rock mechanics, landslide analysis, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver engaging lectures in Geohazards and Geotechnical Analysis
• Coordinate and facilitate tutorials effectively
• Assess student performance using best practices
• Utilize D2L for course management and communication
• Foster an inclusive learning environment through teaching methods
Requirements:
• Graduate degree in Geoscience or related field
• Familiarity with D2L course management system
• Prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level
• Ability to create an inclusive learning atmosphere
