Position: Sessional Instructor: ERTH 545/645, Department of Earth, Energy, and Environment, Faculty of Science

Description

The Department of Earth, Energy, and Environment, within the Faculty of Science, invites applications for a Fall 2026 Term Sessional Instructor.

Each successful candidate will have responsibilities for lecture instruction, tutorial coordination, and any other associated duties for this 3-unit course during the Fall 2026 term.

Course Information

Earth 545/645 - Geohazards and Geotechnical Analysis

The role of geology in engineering problems. Characterization of soil, rock, and rock masses. Mechanical behaviour of geologic material. Landslides and slope stability analysis. Investigation methods and case histories.

Schedule

Fall 2026 Term Dates:
Monday, Aug 24, 2026, to Thursday, Dec 24, 2026.

Delivery Mode(s):
All course components will be delivered in person.

Qualifications
  • A graduate degree in Geoscience or a related field is required.
  • Experience with the Desire 2 Learn (D2L) course management system, knowledge of best practices for assessments, and techniques for engaging students will be considered assets.
  • Previous teaching experience at the post‑secondary level is a strong asset.
