Apply now for a Sessional Instructor role at the University of Calgary's Department of Economics for Fall 2026. We are looking for qualified individuals with a PhD or an MA in Economics.
The position encompasses teaching two courses:
Microeconomic Theory and Advanced Microeconomic Theory, both requiring in-person instruction. Candidates will facilitate engaging discussions, grade student work, and support the academic growth of students through office hours and additional tasks as assigned. Potential instructors should have a solid background in teaching and a passion for economics.
Key Responsibilities:
• Teach ECON
657 and ECON
557 in Fall 2026
• Facilitate engaging classroom discussions on economic theory
• Grade assignments and provide meaningful feedback
• Offer support during office hours to enhance student understanding
• Complete other departmental responsibilities as required
Requirements:
• PhD in Economics or consider MA for strong candidates
• Previous experience at the undergraduate teaching level
• Demonstrated ability to engage students academically
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong commitment to diversity and inclusion in education
