Finning Canada is looking to hire a permanent full‑time Training and Competency Advisor to join the Environment, Health and Safety Team. The position may be based in Edmonton or Calgary and requires an onsite presence 5 days a week.
ResponsibilitiesLearning Systems & Administration
- Manage and maintain training records within the LMS (e.g., Workday, Bis Trainer).
- Configure course content, troubleshoot issues, and monitor system performance.
- Generate reports and dashboards to track training completion, compliance, and competency metrics.
- Ensure data accuracy and alignment with governance and learning standards.
- Organize and coordinate instructor‑led and virtual training sessions.
- Maintain training calendars, documentation, and registration processes.
- Partner with SMEs and trainers to update learning materials.
- Support onboarding, refresher training, and competency‑based learning paths.
- Coordinate with third‑party training providers and manage enrollments.
- Track training costs and support budget alignment.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of external training and support knowledge transfer.
- Ensure all training documentation meets internal and regulatory requirements.
- Update training programs in response to policy or regulatory changes.
- Provide insights and reporting to support compliance and decision‑making.
- Partner with leaders to identify skills gaps and training needs.
- Support cross‑functional learning initiatives.
- Monitor training outcomes and follow up to ensure application.
- Share best practices and recommend improvements to learning programs.
Experience & Technical Skills
- 3+ years of experience with Learning Management Systems and training coordination.
- Proficiency with LMS platforms (e.g., Workday, Bis Trainer).
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design.
- Experience creating Purchase Orders is considered an asset.
- Experience with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook).
- Ability to analyze training metrics (Power BI or dashboards is considered an asset).
- Familiarity with regulatory training requirements and compliance standards.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Problem‑solver with a proactive mindset.
- Comfortable working with diverse teams and supporting learners at all levels.
