About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and engaging instructor to support the delivery of an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate program for a cohort of learners in Siksika Nation. This program is designed to support participants in achieving or advancing their Early Childhood Educator certification through a combination of classroom instruction, experiential learning, and practicum support.

The successful candidate will deliver course content through a blended learning model, fostering an inclusive, culturally responsive, and learner-centered environment while supporting student success throughout the program.

Note:
Virtual programming will be 6 hours total per week// Synchronous Facilitation at client location will be once a week for 8 hours total

Facilitation of the following courses for this delivery:

COMN 200 - Communications in Early Childhood Education

DIGI 200 - Digital Literacy in Early Childhood Education

ECED 250 - Programming 2:
Play and Provocation

Travel Requirements

This position requires travel to Siksika Nation approximately one day per week for classroom facilitation and learner engagement activities. All other instructional delivery, learner support, grading, and administrative duties will primarily be completed virtually.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate instructor-led learning sessions both in person and virtually.
  • Deliver content across a variety of Early Childhood Education courses:
    Childhood wellness, Early learning programming, Child development, Literacy and numeracy, Indigenous perspectives in Early Childhood Education.
  • Create engaging and interactive learning experiences that support adult learners.
  • Evaluate assignments, assessments, and other course requirements.
  • Provide timely feedback and learner support.
  • Monitor learner progress and identify opportunities for academic support.
  • Participate in practicum-related activities, including coaching, mentorship, and learner evaluations as required.
  • Work collaboratively with program coordinators, instructional teams, and community partners.
  • Support culturally respectful and community-informed learning experiences.
What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting learner success, values relationship-based education, and can create engaging learning experiences that respect Indigenous ways of knowing while helping learners develop practical skills for employment within the Early Childhood Education sector. The overall program goal is to support participants in achieving qualifications that lead directly to employment opportunities within childcare and early learning environments.

Qualifications
  • Early Childhood Education Diploma or Degree
  • Level 3 Early Childhood Educator certification
  • Postsecondary teaching, facilitation, or adult education experience.
  • Minimum of five years experience working in Early Learning and Child Care environments.
  • Strong virtual facilitation skills and comfort using online learning technologies.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and coaching abilities.
  • Understanding of Indigenous perspectives and commitment to culturally responsive teaching practices.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities is considered a strong asset.
  • A high degree of flexibility and adaptability to unexpected and changing conditions
Preferred Experience
  • Teaching or facilitating ECE-related coursework.
  • Supporting practicum learners in workplace settings.
  • Curriculum adaptation for blended or hybrid delivery models.
  • Working within community-based education initiatives.
