Description
The  Bachelor of Community Rehabilitation  within the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a  Fall 2026 Term Sessional Instructor for CORE 209 (Disability in Theory and Everyday Life) . The successful applicant will teach one lecture session and one tutorial.

Course Overview
CORE 209 – Disability in Theory and Everyday Life teaches students the role of theory in the context of disability, promoting the comparison and deconstruction of disability theory and in the context of daily living. The course provides a strong theoretical foundation, which prepares students to compare ideologies and practices in academic and practical situations as they move through their degree.

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

Demonstrate awareness of the impact of disability through the examination of prominent disability theory and everyday examples.

Develop an introductory understanding of social justice and its role in disability theory and disability studies.

Through in‑class activities and group work, demonstrate the ability to describe individual and societal issues of disability, and analyse and explain these issues in the context of theory and practice.

Explain and compare theories as they relate to disability theory and its application to everyday life.

Collaborate effectively with peers to contribute to inquiry‑oriented group tasks.

Schedule and Dates
Fall 2026 Term Dates :
August 24, 2026 – December 24, 2026

Delivery Mode :
All course components will be delivered in person.

Teaching Schedule : L01, Wednesdays, 14:00 – 15:50 and T01, Thursdays, 14:00 – 14:50

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated experience related to community rehabilitation or disability studies (academic, research, or in‑practice). Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Disability Studies or a related field, and with prior post‑secondary teaching experience.

Remuneration
Remuneration is calculated according to the Collective Agreement, Schedule
