Sessional Mechanics Tutorial Instructor – Fall 2026 Semester Position Summary
Ambrose University invites qualified applicants to submit teaching resumes for a sessional mechanics tutorial instructor position at Ambrose University. Reporting to the Chair of Ambrose science department, and working collaboratively with the PHY 111 instructor, the successful applicant would be called upon to deliver the PHY 111T Mechanics tutorial in the Fall 2026 semester.
Course Mechanics (tutorial) – Fall 2026This course teaches concepts in motion and kinematics, forces and acceleration, energy, momentum, and torque. The tutorial will enforce and develop concepts delivered in the PHY 111 course, delivered by another instructor. The tutorial will be held in one 2-hour session per week.
Duties of Instructors will include: following course syllabi, preparation and teaching of weekly tutorials, and evaluating student progress and assigning grades, all in keeping with Ambrose academic policies.
This position is a contract appointment for a specified term (usually per semester or academic year) with no presumption of continuing employment.
Qualifications- Minimum Master’s degree in Physics, Mechanics, or related discipline; extensive professional experience may also be considered
- Demonstrated successful undergraduate physics or mechanics teaching, with a commitment to high-quality, student-centered teaching
- Demonstrated experience as a team player and colleague in a science faculty
- Preference will be given to candidates with ability to integrate Christian perspectives into teaching and learning
- Reside locally in the Calgary, AB region
- Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal background check.
- Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience.
- In accordance with Canadian immigration requirements, priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
