Position: Applied Music Instructor (Jazz Percussion)

Position Summary

Ambrose University invites qualified applicants to submit teaching resumes for an Applied Music instructor position in jazz percussion at Ambrose University. Reporting to and working collaboratively with the Chair of Ambrose Arts and other Arts faculty, the successful applicant would be called upon to provide private lessons in percussion, and support student learning through performance preparation and participation in lab presentations.

Applied Music instructors are also encouraged to help recruit new students into the music degree programs.

Applied Music faculty positions are contract appointments for specified terms (usually per semester or academic year) with no presumption of continuing employment.

Duties of Applied Instructors will include:

  • Preparation and teaching of weekly, private lessons in percussion, conducted on the Ambrose campus
  • Evaluating student progress and assigning grades
  • Preparation of students for Ambrose Arts production
Qualifications & Skills
  • Minimum Master’s degree in Music; extensive professional experience may also be considered
  • Demonstrated success in post-secondary applied music teaching
  • Demonstrated experience as a team player and colleague in a music faculty
  • Proven skills in music performance (live professional performance, recordings, etc.)
  • Reside locally in the Calgary, AB region

  • Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal background check.
  • Compensation for applied instruction is based on a standard hourly rate.
