High School Math/Science Teacher/Tutor Wanted

Motivated by mathematics? Sharp with science? Excited by equations in both fields? Eager to help students succeed in math and science? Our hours count! Gain valuable teaching experience!

Position Requirements

All teacher‑tutors work during after‑school and evening hours (4:00 pm ‑ 8:00 pm) as well as some Saturdays (10:00 am ‑ 3:00 pm). A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred, continuing through summer is even better. This role is in‑person; relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Students will appreciate a reliable, engaging tutor. You must commute to the Calgary location and be able to teach Grades 9‑12 math & science.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification is an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 9‑12 math and science curriculum, particularly senior math (Advanced Functions, Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Vectors) and science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)
Experience
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at Grade 9‑12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities (Position Details)
  • Teach up to three students at a time at different levels
  • Teach both online and in‑person following Oxford Learning methodologies
  • Fill in post‑lesson notes and complete daily student communication updates
  • Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times
