Teach Critical Media Studies at the University of Calgary for Fall 2026. This role calls for a PhD or MA holder with university-level teaching experience.
The Department of Communication, Media and Film is accepting applications for sessional instructors for Fall 2026. The position requires teaching COMS 371 in person, utilizing materials from Storey’s Cultural Theory and Popular Culture. Applicants with completed candidacy or equivalent experience are encouraged to apply for this temporary role.
Key Responsibilities:
• Teach COMS 371, Critical Media Studies in person
• Develop course materials based on established texts
• Engage students during lectures and discussions
• Conduct assessments and provide feedback
• Uphold departmental teaching standards and policies
Requirements:
• PhD or MA in a relevant field
• Experience teaching undergraduate courses
• Completion of candidacy exams before term start
• Teaching evaluations or instructional skills workshop completion is a plus
• Submit a current CV and reference information
