Position: Sessional Instructor: DATA 221, Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science

Overview

The Department of Computer Science within the Faculty of Science invites applications for a DATA 221 Sessional Instructor for the Fall 2026 Term.

The successful candidate will have responsibilities for instruction and related duties for this 3-unit course during the Fall 2026 Term (in-person), including supervision and direction of teaching assistants who will teach the tutorial sections.

Course

Data Science 221 - Introduction to Data Science

An introduction to commonly used programming tools and techniques for managing, visualizing, and making sense of data. Human implications of data collection, analysis, and use, including ethics, privacy, and alternate ways of knowing.

Term and Delivery

Fall 2026 Term Dates: Monday, Aug 24, 2026, to Thursday, Dec 24, 2026

Delivery Mode(s): All course components will be delivered in person.

Qualifications

Qualifications: Applicants should have a minimum of an MSc in Computer Science or a closely related discipline; a PhD is preferred. Preference will be given to graduate students and postdocs in the program seeking teaching experience, followed by applicants with a postgraduate degree.
