Become a sessional instructor at the University of Calgary teaching Critical Media Studies for Fall 2026. A PhD or MA in a related discipline is required.
The Department of Communication, Media and Film invites applications for instructors for Fall 2026. You will teach COMS 371 in person, utilizing a key textbook, Cultural Theory and Popular Culture. The position is contingent on student enrollment and requires prior university teaching experience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver course content for COMS 371, Critical Media Studies
• Create engaging lectures and learning materials
• Assess and evaluate student performance
• Facilitate student discussions in person
• Adhere to departmental policies in teaching delivery
Requirements:
• PhD or MA in a relevant discipline
• Teaching experience at the undergraduate level
• Candidacy exams must be completed before term
• Relevant teaching evaluations if available
• Current CV and references required
