Responsibilities
  • Collect, review, proof students document to ensure completeness of the application
  • Provide Council with all eligible applications for review and determination of funding
  • Communicate and notify all applicants of the approval results of their student application
  • Determine the funding amount for each student
  • Submit cheque requisition forms to Finance on a monthly basis
  • Complete monthly and student year end reports
  • Counsel and provide support to students
  • Report and update the Council on Post-Secondary expenditures
  • Liaise with post-secondary education institutions to be aware of student achievement and education programming
  • Travel will be required
  • Implement and manage the appeal process
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Post-secondary education Degree or Diploma/Certificate in Administration, Education, Social Services, Career Counseling or relevant diploma is an asset
  • Ability to formulate and administer a program budget
  • Counseling skills as asset
  • Advanced computerized record keeping skills and competent to Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong analytical, organizational, coordinating and planning skills
  • Strong knowledge of requirements of educational institutions and funding programs
  • Able to communicate effectively
  • Effective liaison with post-secondary institutions and post-secondary students
  • Proven ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC)
  • Post-Secondary funding or working with First Nations would be an asset
  • Reliable transportation with a valid Drivers License
  • Criminal Record Check
