- Meeting with students one‑on‑one to assess and identify areas in need of improvement in relation to academic success.
- Develop and deliver individualized learning plans for students with a broad range of disabilities based on each student’s unique needs and learning style.
- Work in collaboration with tutors, instructors, and other staff as appropriate, providing training and support for students with specific learning differences.
- Support and enhance each student’s personal and academic success.
- Serve as a resource to the College on matters related to learning strategies for students with learning differences.
- Assist with special events and other services offered through the department.
- Assist with additional tasks and special projects as assigned to support the operation of the department.
- University degree in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology, Adult Education, or a related qualification.
- Minimum two years in a secondary or post‑secondary educational setting, working directly with students in the planning and provision of educational supports to students with special needs.
- Proven experience providing learning strategies to students within a diverse population.
- Proven ability to provide solution‑focused interventions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Superior organizational, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility within the decision‑making process.
- Ability to remain objective in decision‑making when presented with emotionally charged situations or at times limited information.
