What This Role Actually DoesAt its core, the Electricity Market Dispatcher helps power generators participate successfully in electricity markets.
You will monitor real‑time market activity, coordinate dispatch instructions from system operators such as AESO and ERCOT, communicate with customers, and ensure all actions are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with market rules.
Every shift, you will be responsible for helping clients respond appropriately to changing market conditions while maintaining accurate records and ensuring regulatory compliance.
What "Dispatch" MeansIn electricity markets, dispatch refers to instructions that determine when and how much electricity a generating asset should produce.
For example:
- The grid operator may instruct a power plant to increase production because demand is rising.
- The grid operator may require a generator to reduce output because market conditions have changed.
- An operational issue may require immediate communication between the ISO and the asset owner.
The Electricity Market Dispatcher helps coordinate these activities, ensuring information is communicated clearly, actions are documented accurately, and market requirements are met.
Core Responsibilities Real‑Time OperationsYou will:
- Monitor real‑time electricity market activity and system conditions
- Coordinate dispatch instructions from ISOs including AESO and ERCOT
- Support reliable operation of customer generation assets
- Respond to urgent operational situations when required
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activity and communications
- Ensure compliance with ISO rules, regulations, and internal procedures
You will:
- Track market prices, generation activity, and system conditions
- Use Arcobi's AI‑enabled tools and dashboards to support operational decision‑making
- Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities within market data
- Support internal reporting and performance analysis
You will:
- Serve as an operational point of contact for customers
- Communicate dispatch information and operational updates clearly and accurately
- Participate in customer meetings when required
- Help customers understand market activity and operational outcomes
- Work collaboratively to resolve issues and improve performance
