Senior Engineer and Business Development Leader – Thermal Power Generation, Canadian Prairies region

Your future role on our team

Your role will consist of leading and growing BBA's business development activities for the Thermal Power Generation business line across the Canadian Prairies. Working closely with utilities, independent power producers (IPPs), cogeneration operators and industrial clients, you’ll support clients operating thermal power generation assets.

You’ll build and maintain strategic relationships across the thermal power generation value chain, including new builds, refurbishment, life extension, cogeneration and energy transition initiatives. You’ll also lead pursuit and proposal efforts in close collaboration with BBA's thermal power engineering, operations and project delivery teams. As a key representative of BBA in the regional power generation sector, you’ll help shape the business line's growth strategy and market positioning.

In addition to business development, you’ll be directly involved in select thermal power generation projects, providing both technical and project management support, working alongside engineering and delivery teams throughout the project life cycle.

Regular

• Develop and execute the business development strategy for the Thermal Power Generation business line across the Canadian Prairies region, aligned with BBA's growth objectives
• Identify, qualify and pursue new business opportunities with utilities, IPPs, cogeneration operators and industrial power producers operating thermal power generation assets
• Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing and prospective thermal power clients, understanding their strategic priorities, capital plans and long-term asset needs
• Lead proposal preparation, presentations and value propositions for thermal power projects, in close collaboration with technical and project teams
• Track and pursue opportunities across the full asset life cycle: new builds, capacity upgrades, life extension, major overhauls and plant refurbishments
• Represent BBA at power generation industry events, conferences, trade shows and associations across the Canadian Prairies
• Monitor market trends, regulatory developments and emerging opportunities in thermal power generation and the broader energy transition
• Work closely with BBA's thermal power engineering, operations and project delivery teams to align client commitments with execution capacity
• Support account planning and relationship management for strategic thermal power accounts
• Contribute to the thermal power business line's regional growth plans and marketing materials
• Mentor and support junior business development and marketing staff
• Get involved in select thermal power generation projects, contributing technical input alongside BBA's engineering teams
• Support project management activities on select mandates, including scope, schedule, budget and client coordination
• Participate in technical reviews, site visits and client technical discussions to maintain credibility and strengthen relationships
• Serve as a bridge between business development and technical delivery teams, ensuring a smooth handoff and continuity throughout the project life cycle

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration or a related field; MBA an asset
