Application Specialist - BAS

Overview

Convergint is looking for an Application Specialist – BAS to join our team in Calgary, AB. The Application Specialist will review mechanical drawings, specifications, vendor submittals, and control shop drawings related to Building Automation Systems (BAS), to develop controller programming and create graphic packages for a range of projects with varying levels of complexity. The role ensures work complies with established quality standards and best practices, maintaining productivity and meeting project timelines.

• Create HVAC mechanical graphics and develop controller programming, including point identification and database configuration. Map and bind points to the graphical user interface.
• Analyze plans, functional specifications, and contract requirements to determine and program overall project requirements.
• Prepare databases and job-related programming and graphics for computer-based systems.
• Liaise with project managers, clients, contractors, partners, and vendors to manage and coordinate project execution to completion.
• Review submittal booklets, schematics, and technical literature to support each contract.
• Provide assistance with programming and graphics completion.
• Coordinate project schedules on all assigned projects and communicate related activities with Project Manager; seek continuous improvement.
• Act as a trusted service provider and strive to ensure Convergint Technologies is the customer’s first choice for service.
• Adhere to and promote the company’s health and safety procedures and comply with provincial and local regulations.
• Present a professional image of Convergint Technologies and promote the services offered by the company.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

• Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to meet customer needs and expectations without prompting.
• Solid knowledge of principles and practices related to building automation systems.
• Previous exposure to any Graphical User Interface and programming software.
• Solid programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and find solutions.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Solid organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficient in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Solid networking and IT skills (Building Automation focus).

• Electrical or Mechanical trade preferred.
• Minimum of 2–4 years of previous experience.
• Experience in one or more of the following industries: building automation, electronic security, fire alarm & life safety (preferred).
• Minimum of two years of Graphical User Interface experience.
• Minimum of one year of programming experience.
