Wood is currently seeking new graduate Process Engineers in Training (EITs) to expand our team within the Projects Canada business in Calgary, AB. Successful candidates will be engaged in projects across several sectors, including oil and gas (upstream, midstream, downstream), energy transition, pulp and paper, water treatment, and petrochemical industries.
We are seeking graduates with the drive and commitment to make a genuine difference across the full life cycle of projects, including study phase, DBM, FEED, and Detailed Design. Wood differentiates itself through engineering excellence, lean and innovative design approaches, and a strong focus on delivering quality outcomes for our clients.
The RoleThe Process Engineer in Training will support process engineering activities across a portfolio of projects within Projects Canada. Working under the supervision of experienced engineers, the role involves applying core engineering fundamentals, developing technical deliverables, and supporting multidisciplinary project teams while progressing toward professional registration.

- Apply strong process engineering fundamentals to complete assigned engineering deliverables
- Develop process simulations, heat and material balances
- Perform process equipment and line sizing
- Support process control strategy development for PFDs and P&IDs
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and supporting offices
- Deliver assigned tasks within agreed schedules and budgets
- Perform checking of process engineering deliverables in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications
- Maintain awareness of new technologies and industry best practices

- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university
- Have 1 to 2 years’ (maximum) experience in the above-listed industries.
- Registered or eligible for registration with APEGA
- Strong understanding of process engineering fundamentals
- Ability to conduct hydraulic calculations and basic equipment sizing
- Strong written and oral communication skills (English)
- Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines across multiple projects
- Exposure to oil & gas industries
- Working knowledge of HYSYS/Pro Max/Uni Sim
- Working ability in AFT Fathom/Arrow
- PHA and over pressure protection experience is an asset
