The Ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of provincial and federal regulatory requirements for the construction and operation of Oil & Gas infrastructure. The successful candidate will be well organized, proactive, possess a keen eye for detail, strong technical writing skills, be a critical thinker and a decision maker, and enjoy some field work.
This position will be based out of the Calgary office, reporting directly to the Manager, Environment and Regulatory.
Key Responsibilities:- Work closely with stakeholders to determine if Steel Reef is meeting regulatory compliance with regards to its numerous operating gas plants, gathering compressors, and storage/loading terminals and identify and highlight gaps where non-compliances exist
- Lead and support internal and external regulator audits
- Complete annual compliance reporting in the various jurisdictions where Steel Reef operates
- Lead, support and provide input on the development and implementation of regulatory and environmental strategies, policies and programs
- Support spill response and associated regulatory reporting
- Engage and manage third-party technical specialists and environmental consultants
- Provide regulatory support to all areas of the business on an ad hoc basis
- Develop and maintain key relationships with Saskatchewan, North Dakota and federal regulators
Education:
- 5-7 years of related industry experience
- Diploma or University Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret regulations, guidelines and standards
- Experience with both Saskatchewan and North Dakota Regulations would be an asset
- Experience with the Canada Energy Regulator and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission would be an asset
- Knowledge of environmental disciplines would be an asset
- Valid driver’s license
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of Word and Excel
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to problem solve and make decisions
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Willingness and ability to work in the field
