Role descriptionOur Structural Team seeks a Senior or Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our growing Calgary, Alberta office.
In this role, you’ll contribute to impactful projects ranging from new construction to the upgrade of transportation, water, and wastewater, commercial, industrial, power, and institutional facilities. You’ll take ownership of your work, applying your expertise in structural, foundation, and seismic analysis while ensuring designs meet building code requirements, along with participating in building and structural inspections that build hands‑on experience and support your professional growth.
Beyond technical expertise, the team is looking for an engineering professional who values collaboration and can help build strong, inclusive teams, working closely with a range of project professionals across Arcadis while coordinating seamlessly with multi-disciplinary partners.
Role accountabilities- Lead structural engineering design and analysis for infrastructure such as deep foundations, bridges and dams, stadiums, industrial facilities, load bearing walls, etc.
- Develop reports, drawings, and specifications, as well as carry out seismic analysis, seismic design, and seismic performance assessment
- Develop strong professional relationships with internal Teams as well as external Teams and stakeholders. It would be great if you can mentior and coach junior staff team members
- Coordinate and provide direction to multi-disciplinary teams and other design disciplines like:
Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical, BIM, etc. - Attend meetings and prepare presentations when required
- Prepare bid documentation for project pursuit, as well as review and respond to related project documents like: RFIs, shop drawings, etc.
- Conduct periodic site reviews to ensure construction complies with design intent and codes
- Perform QA/QC activities
- Minimum 6 or more years of relevant experience in structural design
- Registered P. Eng (Alberta). A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering (an asset to have)
- Knowledge and understanding of Canadian design standards and codes. Knowledge of USA codes and standards is an asset
- Strong project management and coordination skills, with a strong ability to lead the structural design of projects
- Related project experience working with, and or leading, multi-disciplinary teams in a collaborative and cohesive environment, with all levels of skills and experience
- Strong technical skills related to software: ETABS, SAFE, Robot, SAP
2000, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office are expected. Knowledge of 3D BIM is an asset, such as REVIT and Navisworks - Effective communication skills, verbal and written

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $130,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualifications for the role.
