As part of HDR’s Transportation Business Group, you’ll help shape the systems that move people and goods safely, efficiently, and sustainably. From designing resilient highways and iconic bridges to advancing transit, passenger and freight rail, aviation, federal transportation ports and marine infrastructure, your work will directly support economic vitality, public safety, sustainable and resilient communities and quality of life. • Provide inspection and construction supervision on Class 1 railway projects
• Maintain accurate daily diary entries and completion of contract documentation records
• Maintain daily photographic records, and videos as necessary to document contract activities
• Complete site surveys of completed works for tracking item and material quantities for payment
• Complete daily inspections in accordance to client requirements and expectations
• Monitoring construction work is in accordance to contract documents and specifications
• Monitoring the contractor’s compliance to health and safety, and environmental regulations and legislation
• Supervise and implement quality assurance acceptance and inspection of construction works
• Report to the Project Manager onsite activities, concerns, and non-conformances, and provide recommendations for resolution
• Provide mentorship to junior staff
• Liaise with client representatives, as required
• Act as client site representative
• Requires working nights, weekends, and extended shifts
• Work may be seasonal in nature, as work permits
• Other duties as assigned

• Minimum 5 years’ experience with engineering or construction
• Previous experience working with CN Rail and CP Rail projects
• Previous experience working on municipal or provincial transportation projects would be an assist, but not required
• Be able to read and interpret construction design drawings
• Able to work weekends and nights, as needed
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently in remote location
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills
• Emergency First Aid & CPR Certification
• Valid license with an acceptable driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent. (Candidates with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute experience for a high school diploma)
• A minimum of 3 years experience
• Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook)
• Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
