Our client, a professional engineering firm, has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer. The successful candidate will provide electrical engineering services for upstream oil and gas facilities, pipelines and carbon capture projects. This includes planning, designing and managing the installation of electrical equipment, components, and systems. They will contribute to diverse projects, each ranging from $1 million to $200 million total capital cost.

Qualifications

At a minimum, we require:

  • Accredited Engineering degree (Electrical or related).
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
  • 5 years of experience providing electrical engineering services for oil and gas facilities and pipelines.

Compensation
  • Discretionary Bonus, based on individual and company performance.
Responsibilities Electrical Design & Technical Analysis
  • Complete electrical design calculations, load analysis, equipment sizing, and power distribution assessments with moderate independence.
  • Prepare, review, and update electrical drawings, specifications, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment layouts.
  • Design Control and Protection schemes for onsite power generation units, including sizing and specifying Natural Gas Generators or Turbines for remote off-grid locations and developing Load Shedding philosophies to ensure critical systems stay online.
  • Participate in project and design review meetings, providing technical input and identifying potential issues.
Professional Accountability & Compliance
  • Prepare, review, and stamp engineering drawings, plans, and technical documentation as required, taking professional and legal responsibility for accuracy, safety, and compliance.
  • Maintain organized and accurate engineering documentation, including calculations, revisions, reports, and technical notes.
  • Ensure all designs meet project-specific quality expectations and adhere to relevant electrical codes and regulatory requirements.
Project Coordination & Planning
  • Support project planning activities by providing technical input for scopes of work, estimates, schedules, and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate with Drafting, Project Management, Construction, Procurement, and Quality teams to ensure electrical requirements are delivered accurately and efficiently.
  • Identify potential design risks, constructability issues, or technical gaps and escalate them to the appropriate project leadership.
Field Operations & Vendor Management
  • Conduct field reviews to verify installations, gather technical information, and support problem-solving for construction teams on-site.
  • Review vendor packages, shop drawings, and equipment documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
  • Provide informal mentorship and technical guidance to Junior Electrical Engineers and Electrical Drafters to support their professional growth.
  • Support continuous-improvement initiatives focused on optimizing electrical engineering processes, design templates, and overall quality.
