Key Responsibilities
  • Advance and maintain Mountain’s leading Contractor Safety Program by developing documentation and processes pertinent to contractor safety to improve the safety performance of our contractors.
  • Provide leadership and promote existing contractor safety culture and contractor management programs.
  • Lead the development, review, and update of safety standards, procedures, and safe work practices, including the TM safety manual and related forms.
  • Provide safety support to Major Projects, engineering, or operations on hazard assessment and ensuring critical controls are identified and implemented.
  • Collaborate and support internal and external stakeholders on contractor related safety and performance issues.
  • Actively promote and reinforce a strong, positive safety culture grounded in trust, accountability, and learning and influence leaders at all levels to demonstrate visible safety leadership.
  • Develop and evolve 3rd party Field Inspector program to increase safety leadership and competency of our inspection workforce.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable provincial OHS legislation, federal pipeline regulations, CSA standards, and company requirements.
  • Lead and support safety assurance activities to verify that safety controls, standards, and work practices are effectively implemented and function as intended including contractor inspections and audits.
Qualifications and Professional Experience
  • Post‑secondary education in Physical Sciences, Engineering, Safety, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • Over 10 years of progressive experience.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation is an asset.
  • Knowledge and practical experience with Safety Management Systems, Contractor Management Programs, Energy‑Based Safety, inspection processes, and hazard reporting and management.
  • Ability to conduct incident investigations, support emergency response planning, and apply industrial hygiene principles to identify and control workplace hazards.
  • Strong safety leadership skills, including the use of statistics and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement and promote a proactive safety culture.
  • A track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and a willingness to contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive workplace culture.
Working Conditions
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • May need to provide support outside of regular business hours and/or on the weekend.
