As our new Senior Hydrogeologist/Hydrogeology Lead, you will support our Alberta Hydrogeology team with the management of a group of experienced and motivated professionals, and drive the growth and development of our Hydrogeology. Success in this role will depend on your demonstrated skills and experience in the mentoring of staff in a professional consulting environment, as well as experience in interpreting complex hydrogeological systems, and providing practical solutions to address the characterization, development, management, protection, and remediation of groundwater resources.
In addition to strong technical skills, you will also have experience working with clients in a variety of sectors to build teams, develop technical scopes of work, proposal preparation, and the successful management and delivery of projects, meeting SLR’s high standards for quality and client satisfaction.
- Mentor multidisciplinary teams commensurate with project needs and integrate hydrogeological findings and interpretations with those of other scientific, planning and engineering disciplines
- Coordinate with SLR’s groundwater modelling team as part of ongoing project work in Canada, Australia, and Chile
- Develop and execute hydrogeological investigative, monitoring, and remedial work programs in Alberta and elsewhere in North America
- Manage project teams and ensure successful project delivery with respect to health & safety, scope, schedule, budget, QA/QC and client satisfaction
- Analyze and interpret hydrogeological information and prepare hydrogeological technical reports for submission to clients and regulators
- Provide review of hydrogeological investigative programs, calculations, interpretations, and reports
- Prepare proposals and contribute to the development and execution of service line, business sector, and client business development plans
- Liaise and build relationships with clients and ensure excellent service delivery
- Support the management of junior and intermediate hydro geologists and participate in internal and external training/mentorship opportunities
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar hydrogeological role in the environmental services industry
- Experience leading a team of professionals in a consulting environment
- Registered Professional Engineer or Professional Geoscientist with undergraduate degree in engineering or geosciences. Master’s degree in hydrogeology preferred
- A broad knowledge of hydrogeology including water resource management, groundwater chemistry, aquifer development, modelling and surface water‑ecology‑groundwater interactions
- Working knowledge of provincial, local and industry specific regulations and guidelines
- Management of hydrogeological and environmental projects and project teams
- Experience and proven success in business development, client management and preparation of proposals
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites and meetings with clients

- Salary range for this position is $125,000 – $155,000. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, qualified designation, experience, internal parity, and location.
