We’re looking for a skilled mechanical engineer who is passionate about designing high performance building systems and leading projects from concept through to construction. At DIALOG, you’ll work within an integrated design studio where architects, interior designers, and engineers collaborate under one roof on commercial and institutional projects spanning hospitality, recreation, education, and healthcare. How you'll make a difference:
Design HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and heating/cooling systems for commercial and institutional buildings across a variety of project typesLead and coordinate mechanical design from schematic phase through construction documents, taking ownership of your discipline on project teamsCollaborate with architects, interior designers, structural engineers, and electrical engineers to deliver integrated, sustainable building solutionsDevelop and maintain high quality Revit models and engineering drawings for HVAC, plumbing and drainage, and fire protection systemsPerform load calculations, equipment selections, and system sizing using first principles engineering and industry standard softwareIntegrate energy modelling, value engineering, and lifecycle costing to optimize mechanical system performance and project budgetsManage day to day project activities, including client meetings, presentations, and consultant coordinationSupport construction administration activities including site reviews, shop drawing review, and responding to RFIs and contractor queriesMentor EITs and junior designers, contributing to team development and a culture of technical excellenceContribute innovative mechanical solutions for green and high performance building projectsWho you are:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Technology Diploma in a related disciplineP.Eng. or P.L.(Eng.) licensure (or eligibility) required12 + years of experience designing HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems for commercial and institutional buildings, or equivalent combination of education and experience leading complex projectsProficient with BIM software (Revit preferred) and load calculation tools (Carrier HAP, Trane TRACE, or similar)Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards including ASHRAE 62.1, ASHRAE 90.1, National Building Code of Canada, Alberta Building Code, NFPA 13/14, and CSA B149Experience with schematic design, design development, detailed engineering calculations, equipment selection, and specification writingFamiliarity with construction administration processes including site reviews, shop drawing review, and RFI responsesStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly to clients and project teamsEnergetic, proactive, and…
