Field Engineer

What is the Opportunity?

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Field Engineer will provide field‑engineering information to the project management team and sub‑trades to ensure construction works comply with all design drawings, engineering standards, codes and specifications. Multiple full‑time positions are open to support current and future work throughout Western Canada.

• Meet daily with project crews to review production schedules and confirm that all materials, equipment and resources are available to keep work on schedule and within budget.
• Collect, coordinate and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data throughout the project to ensure quality and contract specification compliance.
• Provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling, identifying risk elements that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
• Evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections to track project performance accurately; document daily activities using company‑approved methods and technologies.
• Notify team members and management of any significant schedule changes and recommend solutions.
• Perform additional assignments per management’s direction.
• Remit accurate project quantity input and control using assigned project cost coding; manage cost coding with finance and accounting teams regarding employee time, materials, equipment and subcontractor needs.
• Review project specifications for quality control at the beginning, during and after work; initiate and manage certificates, inspections and related documentation.
• Work with construction crews and engineering leaders to plan field layout on the site, initiating and managing necessary permits.
• Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedules and crews as needed.
• Reconcile job close‑out checklist with owner representatives and field crews at project completion.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

• Post‑secondary education in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
• A minimum of 3–5 years working as a Field Engineer or Project Coordinator, ideally in a project engineering or heavy‑civil construction environment.
• Knowledge of construction equipment & techniques, drawings & specifications, building materials and applicable standards.
• Proficiency in construction industry software (e.g., Primavera scheduling, AutoCAD, SAP).
• Excellent computer skills, including MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
• Flexibility to work in both field and office settings.
• Valid Alberta driver’s licence.
